After looking around online, I found that this was a pretty common problem, and I discovered that the problem was the latest version of the Quicktime codec, 7.6.9. So, the obvious solution would be to downgrade Quicktime to a previous version, 7.6.x, and Vegas would work. So I did this, and it worked! But then my iTunes wouldn't work because it needed Quicktime 7.6.9. The last thing I wanted to do was downgrade iTunes because I have 12,000+ songs and hundreds of tv episodes I would have to import back into iTunes. So I said f*ck it and reinstalled Quicktime 7.6.9.
