UPDATE 08/08/2013 : Thanks to Aaron (
vimeo.com/user10880142), by setting the still image resolution to S2, i can now record 69 frames (1736 x 1156 pixels) and 59 frames of 2.5K (always with transcend 400X CF card).
I took time to test again my Canon 7D with Pelican's nightly build (Magic Lantern) which gives us the opportunity to capture DNG files for small RAW videos.
Silent mode Pics Burst allows me - for now - to capture 41 pictures in resolution of 1736 x 1156 pixels. But it is also possible to produce DNG files with incredible resolution of 2520 x 1200 pixels via crop mode (5x zoom). So yes Canon 7D can really produce small videos in 2.5K raw ! It’s real !
Unfortunately, I could only get 35 frames per shot (1.5 seconds...). But this is a good start i think. And we must be positive about all of this.
Sorry for the lack of originality, but because of lack of time I'm back in my garden and in the field next door to test the 5x zoom mode....
Anyway... here is the result once edited, assembled and color graded (all was done in 2.5K)
I didn’t notice a lot of moire personnaly. And... how can i tell you... I think i will have many difficulties to work again with compressed H.264 files ^^
Once again, all honor belongs to Magic Lantern's Team. And big thanks to Andrew of EOS-HD. His article made my first video accessed worldwide. I'm very grateful to him ;)
